Meet Dr. Hank Vaupel

Meet Dr. Hank Vaupel

2014 Republican Candidate for Michigan State Representative in Livingston County

I am Dr. Hank Vaupel and I am a lifelong resident of Livingston County who has raised a family and built a small business there. Having started my business, Kern Road Veterinary Clinic in 1972, I know first hand the difficulties and expense that job providers face due to government bureaucracy and over-regulation.

Government is too large, too intrusive and too expensive with too little accountability. I will stand up for Livingston County’s conservative values and demand that state government adhere to common sense principles.

I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail, listening to your ideas and concerns, and I hope to earn your vote.

About Dr. Hank Vaupel

An MVMA member since 1975, Hank Vaupel served on the MVMA Board of Directors for 6 years and chaired the Legislative Advisory Committee. He has been active as an advocate for the veterinary profession in the legislature for decades.

Hank earned his bachelor of science and doctorate of veterinary medicine degrees from Michigan State University. After college, Hank proudly served as a Captain in the United States Army from 1968-1971.

In 1972 Hank returned home to Livingston County and independently started his veterinary practice, Kern Road Veterinary Clinic, P.C., which now includes eight veterinarians and provides equine and small animal veterinary service to most of southeast and central Michigan. Hank later sold the practice yet he still continues to work on staff as a business manager.

Since 2000, Hank has served as an adjunct professor with MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine. He became a member of the Michigan Board of Veterinary Medicine in 2002 and was chair of that Board from 2007 to 2010. He also represents MVMA on the Health Professional Recovery Committee.
